Getting ready for puppy

Bringing home a new puppy is kind of like bringing home a tiny, furry baby ~minus the diapers (hopefully)! While you don’t need everything right away, we’ve put together a list of items that might be helpful as you and your puppy settle in.

Checklist

Your puppy has been eating HIll's Science Diet Puppy Food Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe. It is best to keep him on this diet at least until he has settled in to his new home. If you wish to switch to something different, it is recommended you make the change gradually as not to upset your puppy's tummy.

We recommend you continue to crate train your puppy. The recommended size for his crate is 18"x24". This is the perfect size as he will not outgrow it. A crate is a safe place for your puppy to rest and if he doesn't already, he will eventually enjoy his crate time.

Your puppy would love a soft, comfy bed for his crate. He is small now but will be growing very fast so get him one he can grown into.

Also, a crate cover like this one is recommended for your puppy's crate. For now, a towel or blanket works but the crate cover looks so much better.

Your puppy has very sharp baby teeth and he will chew on things. Give him good quality chew toys that will feel good to bite on until his permanent teeth come in.

Your puppy would love yummy training treats such as Blue bits, just make sure they are tiny because he will want lots when he is working so hard learning to sit, lay down, and shake!

Every one of our puppies love these bones. Be sure to get the yogurt flavored ones!

Your puppy has super fluffy fur and as he grows, it will likely get curlier. A slicker brush like this is great for keeping his hair looking it's best!

I recommend only bathing your puppy once a week. This is the shampoo that I use.
